Everything worked very well. Took about 15 hours to heat up 900 ltres of water to 40 degrees. Instructions were a bit basic and could use a few more pictures

Palm spring lay z spa Best product ever !

I purchased this over a year ago . I always likes to give a review after we have used the product for a while. This is amazing! If you don’t want to spend $$$ but still have the same experience this is it. Very easy to maintain. Can easily fit 4 people comfortably . 6 people is so able. We have had no issues at all. Only thing I suggest is having a floater dispenser as well as the Chem connect. I find you need extra spa bromide tablets then what they suggest. The floater with the Chem connect keeps the water super clear. Ideally get 2 filters and change weekly or fortnightly. Wash them with clothes washing detergent and alternate between the 2. We have had 2 filters for one year doing this with no problems. Highly recommend this product we use it daily and love it.

How do you properly maintain the spa?

The water does not need to be changed as long as the water chemical levels are looked after by providing the right chemicals at the correct doses. Customers can acquire test strips from where they purchase their chemicals to check their water chemical levels and give them indications of which chemical they need to add. Filters - as per the manual - should be replaced every 2 weeks.

How quickly do the spas heat up to 38C?

All spas pumps can heat up the tub at a rate of 1-2 degrees per hour especially if it's fully covered. However, this can still be affected by surrounding temperatures. If, for example, it starts at 25, it would take around 13 hours to get to 38. Please note that you should not use the spa whilst the water is heating.

Does your Layz Spa deal with slime build-up?

Slime is films of microorganisms, usually bacteria or algae, that can be found on the underwater surfaces of inadequately sanitised spas and hot tubs. Proper sanitation and circulation of the water will eliminate and prevent this problem. Proper application of chemicals such as chlorine or bromine, ozonators & mineral sanitisers will help. For a better recommendation on what will reduce or remove the slime build-up in the spa, you may check with a local pool specialist.

Is it OK to put artificial turf on concrete with the spa on it?

Yes this is OK, just ensure there is nothing sharp on the artificial turf when setting up the spa.

Is the material UV rated?

The material of 54129 Spa is not UV rated. The light colour fastness level is class 4 (ISO105). The max level is 5. So our spa will not fade very much in the sun over time.

Does the spa need a dedicated power point with its own RCD in the meter box or is it plug and play?

It is best to not share the power outlet and not use any extension cords or multiboards when plugging the spa in as it uses a fair amount of electricity .

Can you tell me what the pressure on the gauge should be when at correct inflation?

There's no specific PSI requirement for this item. You just need to have it firm enough that when you lean your weight on it it will not bend and stay solid. It's very hard to over-inflate this one.

How many hydro-jets this item have?

This Lay-Z spa does not have hydro-jets, only air bubbles. This creates a massage effect similar to a hydro-jet but not as rapid.

Can you sit on the sides of this spa?

We do not recommend sitting on the sides of the spa for safety reasons.

Is the electrical supply 10amp or 15amp?

10 amps.

Can I use a sand filter for this spa? If so, what filter do you recommend?

The sand filter pumps are for pools only. It won't work with these spas.

Can use the jets without the heater?

Yes you can. Just press the bubbles button to activate this feature only without heating.

If I were to heat the water up and turn the pump off, can I use this as a regular bath and use soap/bubbles/bath salts ect?

You can if you disconnect the pump and drain the water afterwards. Otherwise we don't recommend this.

It looks like the spa comes with some extra jets that can blow on your back, is that correct? And how can I clean the bottom of the spa if it has some dirt sitting there?

The spa's massage function for this model is on the base of the spa so it won't be blowing into the back of the user when sitting down, although the bubbles can be felt at the top surface of the water. If there is dirt sitting at the bottom surface, this can be cleaned with a battery operated pool vacuum which you can purchase from your local pool shop.

Is the motor part waterproof?

The spa can stay outside (switched off) during rain, but you need be sure the socket is for outdoor use and the PRCD is not located on the ground where can create a puddle. IMPORTANT: Do not use this spa in the rain.

What surface can you put the spa on?

A rubber mat is fine. The only thing it needs is a flat surface.

Can the temperature be less than 40 degrees?

Yes, it can be set to your desired temperature using the up and down button.

The pictures shows jets on the side walls of the spa for massage. But looking at the video, it appears to only have the jets in the bottom section of the spa.

The jet source is along the bottom, but when active with water the pressure can be felt all the way up to the filled water line.

What's involved in the salt cleaning? Is there a chemical floater included?

The saltwater feature in this spa has a built-in chlorinator meaning if utilised, you can use salt instead of chlorine which is in some cases preferable for those allergic to chlorine. You can still use regular chemicals like chlorine if they want to as well.

Are the pipes for hydrojet releases water or just air?

They release both water and air.

Can I leave the spa on? When I am not using the spa I want to maintain the temperature and keep the filters working.

You can leave the spa on but it's going to use a lot of electricity. What we suggest is that on the first day, when the water is cold, to warm it up to 40 and keep the lid or top cover on as its purpose is to preserve heat and it will only drop a few degrees the next day. Then you can turn the heat on for a few hours only to reach 40 again.

Can I use essential oils in the spa?

We do not recommend using essential oils as it may clog up the internal machine. No special oils are required or recommended - just standard water chemicals. Please note it is recommended to use spa chlorine or bromine, as normal pool chlorine has adverse effects when used in the spa and is not to be used with heated water.

Do the hydrojets/airjets release hot water or hot air?

Hydrojets releases hot water. Airjets release air at normal temperatures.

How can I confirm the spa is inflated enough?

It's firm to the touch. It's impossible to over-inflate as the spa's material can withstand more PSI than what the pressure gauage can reach.

How do you clean the tub?

Use water and liquid soap.

How does it heat water?

There's a heating element inside the pump.

How long is the power cable?

How much power does it cost for the filter and the heating mechanism to work?

The filter mode uses less in power than the heating part. Filter mode + the blower is less than 500W. For heating start up, arout 18-20 degrees it will use 2000W. But as the temperature rises the power cost will drop down gradually. ex. 25 degrees - 1500W 40 degrees - 0W"

What chemicals can I use in the spa?

Spa chlorine (bromine) and ph.

When should I replace the cartridge?

We suggest replacing the filter cartridges whenever it is necessary, such as when it has ripped or is too dirty to clean the water properly. For hygienic reasons we suggest replacing the cartridges every two weeks if the spa is used every day.

What Is the Difference Between Airjet, Airjet Plus and Hydrojet Pro?

AIRJET The all surrounding AirJet massage system ranges from 87 to 180 jets according to the model. This massage system works by pushing high pressure air through small holes in the circumference of the base of the liner. AIRJET PLUS In addition to the small holes in the outer circumference of the bottom, AirJet Plus also includes a circular set in the centre of the base resulting in a soothing sensation across your entire body. Models with AirJet Plus come with 2 levels of massage power controlled through the function on the pump. HYDROJET PRO This is a combination of AirJet and HydroJet Pro technology for a blissfully soothing massage experience. The HydroJets are found in the spa walls and work by pushing water through multi directional jets. Use the digitally controlled pump with the control panel to combine both systems, or enjoy them individually.

Can you Use a Lay-Z-Spa in Winter?

With the introduction of Freeze Shield technology in all Lay Z Spa pumps, you can use a Lay Z Spa in winter. We recommend that you position your Lay Z Spa on a raised platform and in a covered or sheltered area. This will protect your hot tub from too much sunlight in Summer and from the elements in Winter. It is very important that you never leave your Lay Z Spa unused when temperatures drop below 4C.

Can you Use a Lay-Z-Spa in Summer?

Lay-Z-Spas do not having a cooling functionality however by choosing not to activate the heat function, you can enjoy an ambient water temperature in your Lay-Z-Spa throughout the summer months and all year round.

Are Lay-Z-Spas energy-efficient?

Yes all Lay Z Spa hot tubs include energy saving features as standard such as the insulating lid, power saving timer and thermostatic heating system.

Do Lay-Z-Spas Have Built-In Seats?

Can Children Use a Portable Spa?

A Lay Z Spa is not a paddling pool or a toy and therefore is not suitable for children under 8 years old. Children over 8 years old must be supervised at all times and must be comfortably tall enough to stand on the bottom and have their heads out of the water. We recommend that children over 8 years old only use a Lay Z Spa for a maximum of 10 minutes at a time.

How Long Does a Lay-Z-Spa Last?

If a Lay Z Spa is correctly set up, well maintained and cared for, it can be enjoyed for many years. When not in use, it is important that a Lay Z Spa is taken down and stored correctly. We recommended that you pack away your Lay Z Spa if it is not used in colder months/climates as temperatures below 4C can damage the pump and liner.

How Often Do I Need to Change the Water in My Lay-Z-Spa?

How often you should change your spa water really varies depending on how effective you are at maintaining your water with the correct spa chemicals. However, it is recommended that Lay Z Spa water is changed regularly, and at least once every 1 3 months. The frequency of water changes should reflect the degree of use of the spa, as well as the results of chemical testing. If chemical levels have fallen far outside the normal ranges, it is recommended that the water is completely replaced and re treated. It is important to shock dose your water on a regular basis and you will find it will extend how long you can use the water for. Proper chemical maintenance, using the cover, and showering before using your hot tub will all prolong the lifespan of the water.

Can I Add Accessories to my Lay-Z-Spa?

There are a huge variety of spa accessories to choose from for a Lay Z Spa. These include Pillows, Drinks Holders, Floor Protectors, LEDs and much more so you can customise a Lay Z Spa to suit your needs.

Is It Easy to Set Up a Lay-Z-Spa?

Lay Z Spas require no tools for set up and are inflated by using the supplied pump which can take as little as 5 minutes. Please refer to your Instruction Manual for specific set up information. If you are wondering "Can I use my Lay Z Spa straight away?" The answer is that you need to allow at least 24 hours before you can use your Lay Z Spa. After inflation, you need to fill the Lay Z Spa with fresh water, give it a commissioning shock dose of chlorine and wait for it to heat up! You can fill the spa with warm water from the beginning if you wish.

Where Is the Best Place to Set Up a Lay-Z-Spa?

Suitable Surface: A smooth, flat, even surface that is capable of supporting the entire filled weight of your Lay Z Spa plus the weight of the users. Positioning your Lay Z Spa on an uneven surface can cause unequal pressure on one side of the spa which will increase the likelihood of your liner failing. Setting up on a heated floor is not recommended. Power Supply Proximity: You need to consider having a power supply that is close enough for the cable to reach (approx. length of the cable is 7m) but also far enough away so that water cannot splash into the socket. We recommend using an outdoor socket installed by a licensed installer. Surroundings: Placing your Lay Z Spa near a windbreak such as a fence or wall will help to reduce wind chill, helping it to retain more heat and in turn help to reduce your running costs. You should also consider where you will drain the water when required.

Can I Use an Extension Lead for a Lay-Z-Spa?

No, extension cables cannot be used with a Lay Z Spa. The Lay Z Spa pumps come with a 7 metre cable which is usually sufficient for users to reach their nearest grounded socket with RCD protection. If the cable is not long enough, we recommend getting a qualified electrician to install a grounded outdoor socket with RCD protection. The socket that the spa is being plugged into should be grounded and at least 4 metres away, at a height of at least 1.2m from the ground.

Is the Pump Waterproof and Can it be Left Out Year-Round?

Yes, a Lay Z Spa pump is waterproof, however, if you are expecting a very large amount of rain or bad weather it is recommended that you bring the spa and pump indoors. Constant adverse weather conditions could damage your spa and pump.

How Long Do the Filters Last?

The lifetime of a spa filter varies according to the frequency of use, maintenance regime and water conditions. A filter should be cleaned after every use or at least every other day. Hard water can result in an increased build up of limescale and therefore can result in increased cleaning and replacement of a filter cartridge.

Do I Need to Use Chemicals and Why?

Yes, regardless of how often or how long you plan to use your spa, it is essential to treat the water in your Lay Z Spa using spa chemicals. If you left your Lay Z Spa water without any treatment, it would soon become uncomfortable, unclean and potentially dangerous. Spa chemicals are a highly effective way to treat your Lay Z Spa, as they eliminate any harmful bacteria that can grow in warm water. Your local pool shop/chemical supplier will be able to provide you with the correct chemicals for your Lay-Z-Spa.
